General Enrollment Requirements: The requirements to enroll at ABSC are to be age 16 and up and have a high school diploma or GED or show proof of at least a 10th grade education, four wallet size pictures, $150.00 registration fee (non-refundable) and $500.00 down for barber-styling kit which you keep when you finish the course. Total cost of the course is $4,950; this amount includes your registration fee and kit. If you have some training in hairstyling or barbering, you need to bring that information with you when you enroll.
Once a student completes the hours required (1500), and they feel competent to take the Arizona State Barber Board written and practical exam, and pass, they will receive a barber-styling license from the State Barber Board.
To be a barber-styling instructor, you need to have worked two years as a licensed barber-stylist and pass the instructor practical and written Arizona State Board examination.
Course length: 1500 hours, total of 8 months training are required by the Arizona State Board of Barbers.
